The Board of Deputies has launched a video via Twitter in a bid to get young British Jews to join the organisation.
The three-minute “Why Be A Deputy” film, made by videographer Josh Newman, encourages people to stand in the Board’s elections in May.
Young deputy Richard Verber, who represents Limmud at the Board, said it was important for the new generation to get involved. “The Board is the only cross-communal, democratically elected, body in the community,” he said.
Union of Jewish Students President Ella Rose, also a deputy, added: “I would encourage everyone to get involved. It’s a fantastic opportunity.”
Board Chief Executive Gillian Merron said: “How else can we be that legitimate and democratic voice without our deputies?”
