Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit Britain in November, the JC has learned.
Mr Netanyahu will be the keynote speaker at the annual dinner of Bicom, the Israel lobbying organisation, in London on November 1.
But senior Israeli sources refused to confirm that Mr Netanyahu would visit Britain and said any possible plans were not finalised.
A full schedule has not been agreed, but it is thought he is likely to meet his counterpart David Cameron.
No plans have yet been made for Mr Netanyahu to hold other communal meetings.
During his most recent visit to Britain in August last year, Mr Netanyahu met then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Jewish community leaders including Board of Deputies president Vivian Wineman and President Obama's Middle East envoy, George Mitchell.
With the change of government in Britain, one of the items on Mr Netanyahu's potential "shopping list" with British leaders is ready for change - an amendment to the law on universal jurisdiction.
So far the ability of pro-Palestinian campaigners to ask for arrest warrants for Israeli leaders has stopped almost every high-profile Israeli figure from coming to the UK, to the fury of the Israeli government and the distress of the community. But that now seems set to change.
