A antisemitic thug who started a fire in his own flat that forced a family to throw their baby out of a second-story window has been jailed for life.

Hackney resident Ian Pitkin, 64, was found to have planned the arson attack and had a car full of weapons.

The blaze, which the Met said was motivated by a hostility towards Jews, injured five people including one passer-by and prompted a response from a number of emergency services.

One person sustained a fractured hip after jumping from a window to escape and the baby was also checked over by paramedics but did not sustain any injuries.
