articlemain

A man has been arrested after an axe-wielding incident near a Manchester synagogue on Rosh Hashanah, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Police were called to the junction of Singleton Road and Bury Old Road in Prestwich on Monday lunchtime after the driver of a vehicle was heard making verbal threats.

A 45-year-old man was reported by the paper to have been later arrested on suspicion of a racially-aggravated public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon and bailed until the end of the month.

A CST spokesman said: “This was unfortunately a very ugly incident and we are glad that the police response has been so speedy and correct.”
