Israel’s ex-Eurovision Song Contest performers Mira Awad (above left) and Achinoam (Noa) Nini (above right) will perform at the Zionist Federation’s Yom Ha’atzmaut show next year.
The pair, who finished 16th in May’s Eurovision competition with their song There Must Be Another Way, will sing in London in April.
The ZF hopes their hosting of the Israeli-Arab duo — Miri Awad is a Palestinian Christian — will avoid a repeat of the controversy earlier this year when it was forced to relocate the annual family entertainment night.
Last April, the Bloomsbury Theatre in central London refused to host members of an IDF dance troupe who were invited to perform at the show.
It eventually took place in Finchley, north London, where around 40 anti-Israel demonstrators shouted insults at Holocaust survivors and families as they arrived.
The theatre later apologised and made a donation to the ZF.
