A post-mortem examination into the death of Amy Winehouse is expected to take place later today.

The Winehouse family is understood to be planning a Jewish burial as soon as they are able for the star, who was 27 when she died.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said there would be a post-mortem today at St Pancras Mortuary. He also said there would be an inquest into the singer's death, which the Metropolitan Police have up until now described as "unexplained".

Since she was found dead at her Camden home on Saturday afternoon, fans have gathered outside Ms Winehouse's house with flowers and messages, as well as beer bottles, wine glasses and cigarettes, in a nod to her reputation for excess.
