Ninety-five per cent of British Jews believe that there should be an independent investigation into the BBC over perceived bias in its Jewish-interest output, a new survey has found.

According to a poll of nearly 4,500 self-identified British Jews taken between November 3 and 10 this year by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), a majority of British Jews (57 per cent) have also considered ceasing to pay the BBC licence fee over concerns about its coverage of Jewish-interest issues.

A total of 93 per cent said they were dissatisfied with the coverage of the Israel-Gaza war in the wider British media.

The poll also found that fewer than one in ten British Jews believe that the authorities are doing enough to address and punish antisemitism, and just 10 per cent believe that reporting an antisemitic hate crime would lead to prosecution – a remarkably low level of confidence in the British police and criminal justice system.
