It is not often the JC gets name-checked at major sporting events.
But when golfer, Zach Johnson (above) posed with his newly won Open trophy on Monday, veteran BBC commentator Peter Alliss remarked of the surrounding journalistic throng: "All the cameras. Dozens of them. Everything from the New York Times to the Jewish Chronicle."
If you wonder why we were covering the Open, sadly we were not. We were too busy stuck in the rough of communal events like the United Synagogue council meeting to have anyone at St Andrews.
Perhaps Mr Alliss was thinking of the late Sidney Harris who, as well taking photos for the JC for many years, was also a golfing photographer.
