Alma Deutscher is not your average 10-year-old. The pianist and violinist, who is half-British, half-Israeli, will be appearing in July at the Lymington Arts Festival, Hampshire, fresh from a successful stint last month at Tel Aviv's Einav Cultural Centre.
The young musician will be showcasing her own compositions, including a Musical Joke on the Nokia Ringtone and excerpts from her self-penned opera, Cinderella. The latter tells the tale of a tuneful princess-in-distress, who proves her royal identity not by trying on a glass slipper, but by serenading the prince.
