You may remember the upset caused two years ago in Wales when more than 1,000 Orthodox Jews were barred from their annual holiday spot because of safety fears over their Sabbath candles. Aberystwyth University pulled the plug after 20 years because of its ban on naked flames. Wendy Morris, who was Mayor of Aberystwyth when the families were first ousted, said their return was “heart-warming”. Her pun was probably not intended.
