Since then, armed with a rare press pass from the IDF he has been to Israel more than 20 times to catalogue life in the Jewish state.

"These are moments I witnessed, and, whether by chance or by choice, I became part of. It was perhaps the heroism of individuals that struck me most. At a time of tragedy, conflicting factions, and decisions in flux, so many courageous men and women stood up to make their contribution. A generation of TikTokers downed their devices, bid farewell to their families and took to the front lines in the most complex and gruelling war Israel has faced in the past 50 years.

"I’m fascinated by the this land and I’m appalled that there are European Jews who don’t fully support it. For me, Israel is an outpost of Western civilisation. I hope my book shows this.”
