Rhys Ifans in The Boat that Rocks

Nostalgia for the golden age of pirate radio infuses this evocative comedy about a diverse group of 1960s rock ’n’ roll DJs broadcasting to music-starved British listeners from a ship in the North Sea.

Writer-director Richard Curtis — the man behind hit romantic comedies Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love, Actually — brings the era vividly to life in what is his finest film to date. The perfectly cast and played crew includes Rhys Ifans, back to comic form as legendary DJ Gavin, while Kenneth Branagh hilariously steals the show as the British government minister dedicated to sinking the pirates. A total pleasure all the way — tune in and enjoy.
