Boots and winter go hand-in-hand. It’s almost a compulsory fashion rule that you buy a new pair of boots every winter. This isn’t just me making an excuse to enrich my wardrobe with burgundy bikers and 70s suede tassels.

A new style will easily see you through the next six months. Designers gave clear messages that all styles from knee-highs to comfy flats are set to create a storm in shoe departments this winter. Although the choice is wider than ever, don’t be tempted by boots that tick just the one box — styles you can team with trousers but not skirts. Seek out a boot that does several jobs according to your lifestyle. The urban woman needs a practical style to see her through rain, pavements, walking to shul, a busy weekend — as well as the working week. Think wedges, flats and block heels.

If you’re simply jumping in and out of cars and can tiptoe your way through a few muddy puddles, then the boot world is your oyster.
