UJS Hillel

September 15, 2008 16:15

UJS-Hillel exists to promote Jewish student engagement and to engender interest in community activity among the student body.  Hillel’s on-campus student centres are a major part of delivering these objectives as they provide a place for Jewish students to meet each other, hold society meetings and engage in Jewish cultural and religious activity.

UJS-Hillel came into existence in 2000.  Its formation was as a result of a communal review of student provision within the UK which saw the merger of the B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation, established in 1953, and the UJS which was founded in 1973 as the successor organisation to the peer-led student association IUJF (Inter-University Jewish Federation).
