After many years I have finally buckled down to converting to Judaism. Why do I want to convert? Good question. I have no idea, it's just something I have known that I have to do since I was a teenager.
Somewhat bizarrely, my husband is Jewish. But, his family are fully assimilated and he has no intention of ever attending shul. My daughter is now of an age where she has no interest in faith full stop.
So, here I am, each Friday night, lighting the Shabbat candles on my own. Ordering my food from Titanics; grateful to Lurpak and Kingsmill and my Good Jewish Food guide.
Rabbi Janet at WCLS is a real heroine answering my many and varied, and not always relevant questions.
Learning Hebrew is a real problem. Linguistics is not my strong point. Luckily, the next module I intend to take on my Licence course is Hebrew.
But right now Athanasius of Alexandria is calling. Yup, it's time to submit a 3,500 word essay for my course. Back to the books!!!!!!
