Chatham Memorial Synagogue attracted 60 people from across Kent's Jewish communities to mark Yom Hashoah and Yom Ha’atzmaut. A Yom Hashoah service, conducted by synagogue chairman Jon Weiner, included included prayers for fallen members of Israel’s Defence Forces. This was followed with a discussion on the current state of Israel, with a briefing by Nicholas Saphir, chairman of the New Israel Fund and a former chairman of the synagogue. Workshops for children were led by a youth team from JNF. Mr Weiner expressed his satisfaction with the afternoon’s events, pointing out the value of all the Kent Jewish groups coming together, regardless of their religious affiliation.
