Hampstead Garden Suburb’s renowned King’s Bakery, famous for its kosher bread and pastries, is shutting up shop after nearly 20 years.

While a number of other local shops along Falloden Way have changed hands over the years, the longevity of King’s led to it becoming something of a local landmark, attracting the Jewish community from Hampstead Garden Suburb, as well as many customers from the wider area.

Natasha, who lives nearby, said: “I’m so sad to hear that it’s shutting down. I have been going in there for years and have always enjoyed their products, particularly their challah, and I used to get their bagel platters for parties.”

She added: “The service was always really friendly, and the bakery was very much a local institution. It’s a real shame to no longer have a kosher bakery in this neck of the woods.”
