The new scroll will be housed at the Kehal Yedidim community in Hendon

Over 1,000 people have lined the streets of Hendon to celebrate the completion and dedication of a new Sefer Torah.
The Hachsanat Sefer Torah celebration - which took place before the Three Weeks - was filled with music, singing and dancing.
The new scroll is for the Kehal Yedidim community, part of Jewish Futures, and will be used by the latter’s affiliate organisations, including Aish, Eilecha, GIFT, JRoots and Chazon. It was dedicated to the memory of David Yisrael Ben Ephraim (David Hall), a close family friend of CEO and founder of Jewish Futures Rabbi Naftali Schiff, who was passionate about Jewish education.

Rabbi Schiff said: “In a time when the world feels fragmented, the Hachnasat Sefer Torah is a testament to the strength, resilience, and beauty of the Jewish people and how each one of us is a letter in the scroll, part of the Jewish story. This was a wonderful celebration of Torah, tradition, and togetherness – and a chance to say thank you to Hashem.”
The day began with a letter-writing ceremony, where families and friends gathered to witness the final letters of the new Torah being written.
In an atmosphere of celebration, the Sefer Torah was then carried to the Jewish Futures Hub, accompanied by the music of Shloime Gertner.
Rabbi Schiff said: “The event wasn’t just a celebration - it was a statement of pride in who we are, of unity in our community, and of deep appreciation to Hashem for the miracles of recent times.
“May the memory of David Yisrael Ben Ephraim z''l continue to inspire light and love, and may the Torah dedicated in his honour serve the Kehal Yedidim community and all Jews who are impacted by the family of Jewish Futures’ organisations for many years to come.”
