The final game of the Maccabi Masters League season saw Brady secure the Charity Cup by claiming the narrowest of wins over Temple Fortune at Rowley Lane.
After an even first half with no clear-cut chances, the game turned early in the second period when Brady’s Kevin Lotzof cut in from the left wing before curling a shot into the top corner.
Brady spurned several opportunities to double their advantage and with Fortune unable to break down a resolute Brady defence, the latter held on to ensure they ended the campaign with silverware.
Brady captain Scott Ansher said: “We’re very pleased to have retained the trophy against a strong Temple Fortune side. It was a good team performance capped off by a great strike from Kevin.”
Fortune manager Stefan Simons said: “It was a really close game that could have gone either way. Well done to Brady.”
And despite being on the runners-up team on the day, League Chairman, Simon Black commented on another successful Maccabi Masters season, saying: “I’m really pleased to have seen most teams bring in some new players to the League. The move to 40+ gave more players the chance to play football without disrupting the balance of games. In fact there were more competitive matches than for some time.”
