Scores of children have used their summer haircut as an opportunity to donate their hair to help young people with cancer in the UK and Israel.

Thirty-eight girls and one boy gave away their hair to create wigs for cancer patients under 25, who have lost their hair due to treatment.

The wigs will provide comfort and confidence to the young people both in Israel and the UK, said Zichron Menachem, a leading Israeli cancer support charity, which hosted the biannual event.

Families whose elder children had previously donated their hair brought younger siblings to do the same, and a new "Braids of Hope" board allowed donors to attach their hair post-cut, symbolising their commitment.
