A fabulous unbeaten performance saw the Maccabi GB Strollers take third place at the annual Burnt Oak Walking Football charity tournament.

Held in aid of Prostate Cancer, the team only conceded one goal in the group stages, in no part due to some excellent and heroic saves from goalkeeper Jon Kraines. Defeating Welwyn, Burnt Oak and Barnet Ladies, they also drew 0-0 with Barnet and 1-1 with RIP. They secured bronze by beating Barnet 3-2 on penalties, Jem Silverstone converting the decisive spot kick after Gary Briggs and Adam Soller scored in a 2-2 draw. Soller was their top scorer in the tournament, scoring five times,

Brian Livingston and David Leigh scored two each, with Elliot Weider also finding the back of the net. Briggs said: “We received many compliments for our patient passing game and a huge mazeltov to the whole squad who performed with competence and passion.”
