Sunday morning’s harsh weather conditions meant the resumption of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League (MGBSFL) from its winter break resulted in just two fixtures being played.
However, one of those games played, could already go down as one of the shock results of 2026, as Hendon United Sports Club were denied going top of the Premier Division as struggling Stopinsky recorded an emphatic 4-1 win. Jordan Okwar scored twice, with Zach Cohen and Joe Bregman completing the scoring. The victors, in picking up just their third league win of the season, also boosted their hopes of escaping relegation as they moved six points clear of the bottom two sides.
The only other match to beat the frost was a more expected outcome as Brady FC came away from Mill Hill Minyan with a 5-0 win. Yonni Levy bagged a brace, with Saul Shimoni, Scott Davidson and Dean Cramer also on target. The win sees Brady maintain their hopes of a second-place finish, whilst Minyan stay second-from-bottom of the table.
Weather permitting, a full set of fixtures are scheduled for this coming weekend, while the Maccabi Masters League will also resume after its mid-season break.
