Erica Marks, the former head of Migdal Emunah, which helped victims of child abuse, has been appointed the chief executive of Mavar, the charity which supports Charedim considering moving out of the community or looking for education and training opportunities outside it.
Mavar trustees said she would oversee the organisation as it sought to deepen its impact within the community and extend its reach.
She said she was “delighted to be joining Mavar at such an important time. The organisation has a strong foundation and a clear sense of purpose, and I look forward to working with the team to further strengthen its work and create meaningful impact.”
A spokesperson for the board said: “Erica brings a wealth of experience and a dynamic approach to leadership. We are confident that under her guidance, Mavar will continue to thrive and achieve its strategic goals.”
Migdal Emunah was forced to close in October after loss of funding.
According to its last accounts, Mavar had an income of £77,000 in 2025. It received a National Lottery grant to build a study skills programme over this year.
