For the third year running, Maccabi Masters competed in the National over 65’s 7-a-side one-day tournament, which was held in Sheffield last week.
The competition comprised two groups of eight, ensuring each team – competing in a round robin format – played seven games of 15 minutes each, with just a 10-minute break between matches.
Unfortunately, Maccabi faced England – who would go onto win the tournament – in their opening game and narrowly lost 1-0. They would then go on to win four and draw two of their next six games, but ultimately finished second in the group, which wasn’t enough to progress to the final.
With it being the second anniversary of 7th October, the players all wore yellow armbands, while receiving some lovely comments and support from their opponents.
