Brighton and Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom has been made a Freeman of the city in recognition of the team’s promotion to the Premier League.
“I’m feeling great,” he said. “It’s a tribute to our amazing staff at the football club and the wonderful fans we have. It was unexpected and I am hugely honoured.”
Mr Bloom has chaired the club since 2009, investing in the development of its stadium and training facilities. He grew up in Hove, where his parents still live.
Brighton manager Chris Hughton has also become a Freeman.
