Residents at Signature Care Home in Hendon were paid an unusual visit this week.
Far from the relatives that the residents might have expected to see, they were instead greeted by animals, including rabbits, rats and a bearded dragon.
The morning was part of the home’s activities programme, which prioritises the residents’ holistic wellbeing and encourages them to discover new interests.
Residents at the home – the majority of whom are Jewish – interacted with the animals, which were brought along by Megan’s Petting Paradise.

Cynthia Shaw, who was introduced to a rabbit, said: “I adore all animals, so for me, it was a truly memorable experience and one that I will remember for a long time. It really brightened the day and gave us all so much to talk about.”
Orla Green, home manager at Signature, said that “we were so pleased to welcome Megan’s Petting Paradise into our home. The session created a wonderful atmosphere and prompted a lot of smiles and moments of joy for our residents.”
She added: “Animal visits like these are known for reducing stress and improving mood, and they really add something special to life within our home”.
