Kaye has been a notable absentee for Raiders through injury, but his presence ensured there was no cup upset against the Division Two opposition.

Competition holders Raiders A saw off the challenge of second division Mill Hill Dons thanks to goals from Ben Joseph (2), Joe Cohen, Jonny Kay and a pair of own goals.

L'Orange stormed into an early 3-0 lead before the Dons battled back with goals from Zach Cohen and Ryan Kramer. But stepped up a gear to score three more times and confirm their place in round two.

NLR manager Dan Shafron told JC Sport: "I'm happy with the win but there's still plenty to improve on. We had some excellent spells where the football was a joy to watch and many positives to take forward into our next game.

"It was also great to have Al back playing after nearly two years out. He adds a lot of tenacity in the middle of the pitch and will be an influential player moving forward."

Dons boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "It was a really hard-fought battle by the boys today, some unlucky goals cost us and I would say the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story.

"We gave the Raiders a game and it slipped away towards the end. You can see that they have a very good squad and can see them challenging for the cup once again."
