CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND ONE

FC TEAM 4 TEMPLE FORTUNE A 2

Goals from Richard Salmon, David Grossman, Jonny Breger and Dan Breger earned second division FC Team a cup upset over Fortune of Division One.

This was "a proper cup game" that was end to end between two really committed sides. The game started very fast and there were so many chances at both ends.

Team started the second half really well and began to dominate as the game went on. Once Fortune had a man sent off the game became really hectic and Pearl credited his players "for staying calm and focused".

Fortune's goals came via Conor Brand and Jason Lindsay but their misery were compounded by the dismissal of Hayden Smith following two cautionable offences.

He told JC Sport: "I'm delighted with our first win of the season, against a team in a higher division. When this bunch of players fancy it we can be a real force.

"Salmon looked strong and pacy up front, Dave Grossman anchored the midfield superbly and Ronesy didn't stop running.

"Big shout out to Brad who suffered a horrible injury and needed to be stretchered off. We hope he recovers quickly as we will seriously miss his talent.

From everyone at FC Team, we want to wish Mitch and Sophie, as well as their families, a huge Mazel Tov on boy number 3! Only a few more to go until we have the dream of a team of Mitchell Youngs!"

Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "It was a frustrating morning and start to the season. The better team won on the day - we didn't play well enough and it didn't help going down to 10 men. We have to wipe the slate clean and start again next week.

"Wishing FC Team good luck in the cup and mazel tov to Mitch on the birth of another future FC team star!"
