JC GOAL OF THE WEEK CONTENDERS

- JOSH CUBY (Oakwood A) - Michael Owen-esque (vs Argentina). Incredible solo run and finish to put Oakwood 3-2 up in extra-time in the Cyril Anekstein Cup final

- JOEL KUTNER (Real Hendon) - finished off a sweeping move down the right involving half a dozen passes (which is a record for the season) and a sweet dinked finish over the keeper

- YOSSI GOLDBERG  (Real Hendon) - Roy of the Rovers stuff, controlled a cross field pass 25 yards out with his right foot and then unleashed an Unstoppable dipping volley over the keeper and under the 3/4 height crossbar to cap off a superb captains performance

- LOUIE LIBBERT (Oakwood B) – wrapped his left foot around the ball from 25 yards for the winner

- DANIEL SELIGMAN (Oakwood B) – Finished off a great team move. Captain Dan King started it off down the left-hand side, before Seligman tapped home Jacob Richler Kleiman’s first-time

---------------------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK CONTENDERS

- JAKE SANDERS (Fairlop FC) - Zach Cohen fired at free-kick from 25 yards, which looked goal-bound. Sanders rose like a salmon to make a finger-tip save and flick the ball over the bar to keep the score at 1-0. Jake is a fantastic goalie but he’s not the talliest, but what he lacks in length, he makes up for in ability

- JOE BOTCHIN (Oakwood A) - SAVE 1 - brilliant, instinctive block with his feet to deny Moses Seitler

JOE BOTCHIN (Oakwood A) - SAVE 2 - denied Dovi Fehler a dramatic last-gasp winner, deep into extra-time

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP FINAL

HENDON UNITED SPORTS 3 OAKWOOD A 3 (AET - Oakwood won 6-5 on penalties)

Oakwood put their name on the League Cup after winning a nail-biting cup final after a penalty shoot-out at Rowley Lane.

Oakwood led three times - through Brad Wine and Josh Cuby (2), including a stunner in extra-time, but on each occasion Hendon hit back, via Avi Korman (pen) (2) and Yoav Kestenbaum, before goalkeeper Joe Botchin was the hero in the penalty shoot-out.

Wine put the Oaks ahead after a goalkeeping error, but Korman held his nerve to convert from the spot following a foul on Dovi Fehler. With right-back Ari Nevies taking over in goal following an injury to Russ Corin, Sidle headed Oakwood back in front, but a dramatic late equaliser from Korman took the game into extra-time.

Cuby looked to have won it with a stunning solo effort, before Kestenbaum forced penalties, tapping home after three brilliant save in a goal-mouth scramble from Botchin.

MATCH REPORT

Hendon player-manager Greg Corin told JC Sport: "Penalties are always a lottery and a cruel way to lose a final, but I think the manner in which we came back into the game three times meant that we had given it our all and we couldn’t be upset with the effort. We're just disappointed with the outcome of the shootout."

DC Prediction: Hendon 2 Oakwood 1

BARRY GOLDSTEIN TROPHY FINAL

TEMPLE FORTUNE A 1 FAITHFOLD B 4

Faithfold gave outgoing player-manager David Garson the perfect leaving present after winning the BGT competition for the third time, thanks to goals from Jon Kay, Stuart Haring, Gav Lewis and David Kirzneris.

Leading 2-0 at half-time at Rowley Lane, Lewis netted a third in the opening minute of the second half, and although Simon Cohen pulled one back for Fortune, Kirzneris sealed it with a coolly taken fourth.

Jubilant Faithfold player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "To win a final is always special,” he told JC Sport. “When you are the bottom team in the league, it’s even more special."

Disappointed Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "We didn’t perform anywhere near where we can. The two goals early on set the game up for them and we lost our focus and they took advantage."
