Maurice Siegal takes on X Factor

articlemain

Maurice Siegel, 76, from Southend was the latest Jewish wannabe to make his singing debut on ITV's X Factor.

The retired telesales worker, dressed in a frilly, shocking pink shirt, told judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole that he had "500 female fans in Southend alone".

But Maurice was not to repeat the success of fellow Jewish contestant Stacey Solomon.

He regaled the judges with Delilah by Tom Jones, complete with hip thrusts, but didn't manage to win over the judges, receiving four resounding "No" votes.
