Young guns sparkle in LMV victory

articlemain

Another superb knock from Adam Brand inspired London Maccabi Vale 2nd XI to a 20-run victory over Bharat Olympians in Division Two of the Middlesex Sunday Cricket League.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, LMVCC lost Jeremy Harris early after he played all around a straight one. Maccabiah veterans Nigel Rothband and Brand, who have almost 100 years experience between them, steadied the ship and put on 40, before Rothband nicked one behind.

Having smashed an unbeaten 200 last weekend, Brand went on to score a ubiquitous 50 and enjoyed an 80-run partnership with Jonny Gould (29).

Once Brand departed for 70, the youth took over and some intelligent cricket together with some excellent running meant the side gained momentum and built a defendable total on a slow pitch with a very slow outfield.

Notable contributions in the middle order came from Grant Reingold (44 not out) and Joseph Greenwall-Cohen (18).

An extremely youthful bowling attack equipped themselves very well. Whilst Ben Lederman (2-31), Greenwell-Cohen 2-39) and Sim Cohen (1-38) were the wicket-takers, Gould, Reingold and Josh Frey also bowled well and kept the runs down.

Two excellent catches by Adam Solomons and direct hit run outs from Brand and Greenwell-Cohen in the field made up for a number of dropped catches, including three in one over.

London Maccabi Vale 2nd X1 217-6, Bharat Olympians 197-7. LMVCC won by 20 runs
