Wolfson wonder show saves Cats

Simon Wolfson ended his 17-year wait for a first-ever goal in the famous Catford & Bromley colours after firing a late leveller to earn his team a point against Boca.

It was a poor quality game, but very high on entertainment with both teams creating a number of chances throughout the game. The momentum swung violently from one side to the next throughout but both teams defended poorly.

The Cats went ahead twice - with Yonni Bord and Jamie Sinai converting - but then went 3-2 down after a defensive mix-up in the second half - with strikes from top-scorer Dovi Fehler (2) and Yosh Silverman.

Keeper Guy Ben-Aroya pulled off a string of impressive saves, including one double-save when there were a number of Boca players looking to put the ball into the seemingly empty net.

The Cats had a goal disallowed for an apparent push, before sending everyone forward for a late, late corner. Bord sent the ball in under the crossbar and through a heap of bodies it fell to Wolfson who threw everything he had at the ball to force it over the line.

Cats captain Adam Luria told JC Sport: "It was a scrappy goal, but is Catford's nomination for goal of the week as it is the first goal that Simon has ever scored in 17 years of playing for the club. That it rescued a point made it all the more special."
