Idan Gal-Shohet of Highgate Harriers took the U20 Middlesex long jump title at Lee Valley with 6.41m.

Jake Segal’s PB of 6.57m in the U15 shot secured the bronze medal for the Maccabi London Harrier, while V40 sprint specialist Adam Richards-Gray, also won bronze at the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire county event, with a season’s best of 26.81 for the 200m.

Outside the national county championship weekend, Adam Firsht, 16, won both the 400m (53.04 PB) and 800m (2:03.77) at the Youth Development League (YDL) meeting at Harrow. His Brighton & Hove team-mate, U20 Tomer Tarragano, lowered his 1,500m PB by more than a minute to 4:01.57 at the BMC Regional Races in London.

More competition and PB successes came from Hannah Viner, 22, who set a new 5,000m PB of 16:32.82 at BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) in Bedford, as well as a road 5K of 16.36 in Ipswich.

At the Israeli track championships, another national record was broken when U23 Tedesa Gethon won the 10,000m in 28:21.9, also the fourth fastest time in the Israeli all-time rankings. In an unprecedented display of strength in depth at the meeting, the first 14 men all completed the race in under 30 minutes.
