Win for Pinner JFC Under 14s

articlemain

Pinner JFC Under 14s claimed their first win of 2011 with a 3-1 success over VEP Knights.

After a series of postponements and cup games, the Sky Blues were looking to improve their record from the first half of the season that had seen Pinner win seven and lose three with defeats so far being by the odd goal including a previous 3-2 home defeat against the Knights who are current Watford Friendly League division leaders.

Pinner’s desire was obvious from the start where they dominated play for the first 20 minutes, forcing several fine saves from the talented Knights keeper.

Eventually, the creative midfield play of Ethan Davies paid off as he set up striker Joshua Burchhardt who this time gave the keeper no chance. Despite maintaining the lion’s share of possession, Pinner went into the break just one up.

The Sky Blues came out for the second half with equal determination and within 1- minutes were two goals to the good following a well worked move between Davies and Ben Graham who squared to Jordan Aspis to finish the move superbly.

Pinner’s defence had stood up well all game with centre half and Man of the Match Adam Feldman rarely allowing Knights near the last third.

The Knights eventually broke through to narrow the margin. However, sheer determination saw Pinner stretch the lead again with five minutes remaining when Burchhardt sealed the points with a fine individual effort.

If the Sky Blues can continue in this fashion for the second half of the season and with games in hand, then coach Amit Vadera can see at least a top three finish in his sights but is taking nothing for granted as the hard work must continue.
