Updated: Reports that Tal Ben Haim’s failed a medical at West Ham today appear unfounded.

We understand that the Israeli defender in fact passed the tests at Upton Park. However, any possible deal remains incomplete as Ben Haim has yet to sign a contract due to the player and club failing to agree a salary.

Ben Haim hopes to be reunited with manager Avram Grant, whom he worked under at Portsmouth.

Ben Haim stayed on the bench during Portsmouth’a FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea after recovering from a groin injury.

West Ham originally offered £30,000 a week, around £8,000 a week short of what the Ben Haim was earning at Portsmouth but the Hammers hope that an improve offer will be accepted.
