Weintraub gets Israel back on track

An excellent performance from Amir Weintraub put Israel back on level terms in their Davis Cup World Cup playoff match against Japan in Tokyo.

Japan won the first rubber when Go Soeda beat Dudi Sela 6-2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, but Weintraub levelled the match with an impressive 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Tatusma Ito at the Ariake Coliseum.

Weintraub had expected to take on Kei Nishikori but he was replaced by Ito following an injury.

Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich will be looking to put Israel 2-1 ahead in the doubles match tomorrow followed by the reverse singles games.
