'We still have two more targets this season,' says Sandford

Glenthorne United B have been confirmed champions of Division Three after they were awarded three points for the recent postponement against Hendon United Sports Club A, who were unable to raise a team.

Thornes joint-player-manager Craig Sandford told JC Sport: "It’s always nice finding out your champions whilst sitting at your desk.

"We set ourselves a target of winning the league and we are delighted that we have succeeded. This was myself and Sam's debut season in management and to be honest we had no idea which way it was going to go.

"We have both played under great managers over the years and picked up some good ideas, but until you are put in the position then you never know how it will turn out.

"We can't thank the squad enough. They have done everything that has been asked from them. They have been professional throughout and a pleasure to manage.

"When football needed to be played, they played it. When battles needed to be won, they won it. Week after week the team has grown stronger and closer and we now hope to take everything gained this season and apply it in Division Two.

"This league title is for them and hope they get a feeling what it's like to win a league because we want to win a few more.

"Our season is not over just yet and we still have two more goals to achieve. We want to set a record by being the only team to complete a league with a 100 per cent record and we want to reward our fans with day out at Wingate in the BG Cup which we aim to win."
