We're firing on all cylinders, says Bloch

Anthony Bloch believes that Republic of Mancunia are ready to storm the MJSL by pulling off an historic treble.

Victory over Westdene 1st last weekend, where Mike Gastwirth fired a hat-trick, means Republic are now just four points off league leaders Manchester Maccabi with a title showdown between the two still on the cards.

With the semi-finals of both the Shonn and Feldman Trophies to come, Republic remain in great shape to plunder the prizes across the north.

And Bloch, whose side smashed eight past Westdene, insists his men are ready to fight on all fronts.

"We know what we have to do, keep winning matches and keep scoring goals," said Bloch.

"Whether or not we are currently favourites for the title is for the betting experts to decide.

"We are without a doubt the favourites to complete an MJSL treble this year. With that still being a possibility, of course that is our ultimate aim."

Gastwirth's second-half hat-trick sealed victory for Republic who romped home. He stole the show after Moishe Hasid's quickfire double, while a Dave Eden double and a Paul Basger penalty rounded off the scoring.

But Bloch insists his men must be more ruthless if they are to capture the league title and hit out at his team-mates following their failure to add to their tally.

"Coming off the pitch, there was a feeling that we had under-performed and that was after inflicting Westdene's biggest defeat of the season.

"I think that shows where we have come this season and what we have become, with the early goals from Hasid, in effect the match was won.

"From there it really could have been 20 if we had taken our chances."

Hyde Park Rovers saw their title hopes dealt a blow as they were held 3-3 by Haroldeans.

Josh Silverberg scored twice and missed a penalty for Haroldeans as the Liverpool side.

Jason Wise, David Cohen and David James struck for Rovers who finished with 10 men after striker Oli Grant was sent off for two bookable offences.

Steve Satinoff scored the only goal of the game as South Manchester 2nd defeated Oakhill.

Saul Davies, Danny Jacobs, Alex Woolf and Alex Jackson inspired Sporting JLGB to a 4-1 win over Westdene 2nd.
