Stuart Delmonte warned his AFC Flixton side to raise their standards if they want to maintain top spot in Division One.

Yaniv Salem’s first-half strike was enough to beat rock-bottom Barclays 1-0 in an error-strewn clash at Hough End.

But joint-manager Delmonte claimed Flixton will be punished if there is any repeat in Sunday’s top-of-the-table showdown with Chorlton.

"It was a dreadful game and we were well below our usual level of performance," Delmonte told JC Sport.

"The conditions on a bog of a pitch hardly helped us. We really struggled to get out of first-gear and we found ourselves holding on towards the end.

"The fact we won, despite playing so poorly, is always a good sign."

"But we know that we must improve for far sterner tests that lie ahead."
