'We face ultimate test,' says Gee

Ivan Gee believes his Haroldeans team will face the ultimate challenge when they take on Leeds Maccabi 1st in Sunday's Peter Morrison Trophy clash.

MJSL league leaders Haroldeans have won all nine of their league fixtures this season and have raced 10 points clear at the summit.

But Ian Selwyn's Maccabi will start as firm favourites having booked their place in the third round of the Leeds and District Jubilee Cup with the 5-2 thrashing of Cuedos Rangers last weekend.

"Leeds play in a higher standard league and they're a very good side," said Gee.

"They beat us 5-2 last season although I thought we made a fist of it for a while without really managing to trouble them.

"Hopefully this year we can do better and with the run we've been on we're all very confident."

Haroldeans continued their perfect start to the season with a 3-1 win over Hyde Park Rovers courtesy of a Bobby Abrams hat-trick.

Dan Seligman scored for Rovers but it was the heroics of Abrams against his former club which stole the headlines.

"Bobby's a class act and he could easily play at a higher level if he wanted," added Gee. "But he's been with us since he was seven and always wanted to play for Haroldeans."

MJSL champions Manchester Maccabi 3rd saw their title hopes dealt another blow as goals from Gary Freeman and Mark Clayton gave Republic of Mancunia 2nd a 2-0 victory.

Daniel Bomsztyk, Marc Woolfe, Alex Goodman and Joe Davis were all on target as Oakhill Lions moved up to fifth with a 4-0 win over Leeds Maccabi 3rd.

Marc Silvester and Mikey Levitan were both sent off as Sporting JLGB and South Manchester shared a 2-2 draw.

Moshe Hasid (2) gave JLGB the upper hand but Oli Black and Marc Parry ensured South grabbed a point.

Ray Tammam helped Crumpsall extend their unbeaten run to four games with victory over basement boys Broughton.
