Wax Outshines Lench As Montana Come Back From The Dead

A hat-trick from the in-form Josh Hershman strengthened Brady's promotion hopes as they finished in seventh heaven against Redbridge B in Bushey.

Even with an injury depleted squad, Brady were simply exquisite. Missing a quadrant of starting players, Brady put Redbridge to the sword early on as a good Steven Field shot was parried right into the path of the flying Hershman who added another to his seasons tally with a simple tap in.

Despite this, Redbridge were level shortly afterwards, with the ever-improving Oli Colmans finally showing vulnerability as a weak shot from Mike Konzon trickled through his legs, as he took an age to get down.

Brady swiftly regained the ascendancy when a through ball was latched onto by Ben Gurshuny who brilliantly chipped Ben Rosenthal from 20 yards, for his first league goal of the season.

The rest of the first half was pretty dour with neither team challenging the opposition goal mouth, and both sets of management were pleased to get their team in at half time.

Brady shot out of the blocks in the second half, with a contentious penalty being awarded to Brady following a Redbridge handball, which youngster Steven Field duly despatched for his first goal in senior football in only his second game.

Brady continued the dominance and Hershman found himself unmarked inside the six yard box to tap home an easy fourth and his second.

Despite his second being easy, his hat-trick was a fantastic goal, as Hershman turned two Redbridge defenders on a 6-pence, before smashing the ball from the edge of the box into the bottom corner for Brady’s fifth.

Super-sub Jonny Isbitt came on in the last 25 minutes and further stretched the Redbridge defence forcing a great save from Rosenthal in goal, only for the ball to fall to Nick Berman who scored his 1st goal since he was 5-years-old, and playing football in the garden.

Isbitt’s hard work eventually paid off, latching on from a deep Rob Kleinman cross on the half volley for Brady’s seventh.

With Brady cruising there was enough time left for Colmans to embarrass himself after collecting the ball in his own area, refusing to pick the ball up he tried to beat on-rushing centre forward only to stutter, get tackled, fall over leaving Konzon with an open net to slot the ball home for a consolation goal.

Brady boss Josh Rosenfeld told JC Sport: "We were absolutely superb.. we had lee platt, nick stern, mark smith, zak presky, darren stern and ryan moscow out injured.. Shows the strength in depth we have in this squad. We dominated the game from the first minute and completely tore Redbridge apart in a game we needed to pick up 3 points to continue pushing up the league. We played some of the best football we have played all season moving the ball around with ease.. Very pleasing to watch from the sidelines and we are only looking in one direction in the table.

"Not many sides beat a Redbridge team three times in one season. This just shows the consistency we have had throughout the year. We are delighted with the result, but it means nothing if we can't get anything next wek against Camden.

"Redbridge are a decent side who I think will pick up points this season and hopefully have the ability to cause a few upsets to help us out."

RJC boss Mike Winehouse told JC Sport: “We were well and truly beaten today. We went with 11 after two players pulled out at 5am and 6am, meaning we had to play players out of position on top of what was already a weakened side.

“I can’t take anything away from Brady, who were very good today and punished every mistake we made – and there were a lot!

“I’m putting it behind us due to our lack of options and look forward to a lot of players being available next week and taking some points at home to Camden. But that’s not to say how angry and disappointed I am with, not only our performance as a team, but the boys who let us down as well. On to next Sunday.”
