Warner wins British Masters crown

articlemain

Adam Warner started the new Open Water season in style with victory at the British Masters Championships.

Competing at the Serpentine, Hyde Park – the same venue that hosted London 2012 – Warner described the race as “an experience and one I will never forget”.

Winning the gold medal in his age category, Warner was also the fastest in all the masters categories 25-40-plus.

"It was a great result,” said Warner. “I could not be more over the moon, especially considering what happened in the race.

"I got cramp at various places throughout the race, which made it challenging. I really should have stopped, but I was determined to finish. The competition was fierce but fun."

Warner returns to action at next month’s Masters Nationals in Sheffield.
