Cup kings Hendon moved to within three points of NLR with a comfortable 3-0 win over LML Blue.

Ben Kon, Avidan Last and Yoav Lebens eased Hendon towards the title.

Lions came at Hendon hard for the first 20 minutes and they could easily have conceded, but for two great saves from Russell Corin.

Hendon clicked into gear from about the middle of the first half and were good value for the lead given to them, once again, by the marauding Kon.

Last doubled the lead with a typical finish and from then on it was a question of Hendon keeping their nerve and scoring as many as possible.

Jubilant Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "This was a very entertaining match, with both teams playing good open attacking football.

"We were guilty of a succession of missed chances including incredibly two missed penalties from Ari Last - I'm sure their keeper must have watched the recent cup finals as he picked them perfectly!

"Lions contributed well to a good, free-flowing match, looking pretty sharp on the break, and whilst we could and should have probably scored a few more, the result was the most important thing and was never really in doubt.

"Yehuda and Avi Korman were both magnificent at the back and Greg Corin ran rings around them for most of the game.

"We are counting no chickens yet - we expect a really tough match next week against a very dangerous Oakwood team who we know will be doing everything to beat us and Lions showed today that they can be dangerous.

"The closer we now get the more our achievements are beginning to sink in and we simply have to keep going for two more games."

LML boss Jamie Kyte told JC Sport: "It was a really well fought game, but we weren't good enough at the end of the day.

"Hendon are riding a wave at the moment and it seems that nothing can stop them. If they don't secure the treble I will be amazed."
