Tel Aviv close in on last 32

articlemain

Maccabi Tel Aviv requires a point from their last match in the group phase to reach the last 32 of the Europa League following a goalless draw against Apoel FC.

Eintracht Frankfurt clinched top spot with a 1-0 win over Bordeaux, and a draw against Bordeaux on December 12 will be enough for Maccabi to join them in the latter stages.

Highlights were few and far between at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, with the Israelis managing just one shot on target in 90 minutes.

Barak Itzhaki was Maccabi's biggest threat going forward. He fired a half-volley over the bar following good work from Tal Ben Haim's while Ben Haim also came close, forcing an excellent save low down from Apoel keeper
Urko Pardo.

Maccabi Haifa were unable to register their first win as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against AZ Alkmaar in Group L.

Maccabi will entertain FC Shakhter Karagandy in a game that will determine who finishes bottom of the group.
