Tamir to stick with Trotters

articlemain

Israeli midfielder Tamir Cohen is determined to see out his three-year contract with Bolton, even though he has failed to make an appearance this season.

His father, former Liverpool star Avi Cohen, said that Trotters manager Gary Megson recently had talks with the Israeli midfielder and told him that his future is with the Premier League club.

"Tamir has had a lot of bad luck with injuries lately," said Cohen. "He picked up a muscle strain when training with the Israel team last week and returned to Bolton injured. He should be fit by next week. This is the second time he has returned injured from international duty."

Cohen signed for Bolton in January from Maccabi Netanya and managed 10 appearances for the Trotters last season including a goal in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the Reebok Stadium. Off the pitch, he was unhappy telling the Israeli press that there was nothing to do in Bolton at nights.

Despite his failure to break into the first team this year, he is much more settled socially, having married in the summer in Israel and moved to Manchester with his wife Yael when returning to England.

"Tamir is well aware that this is a character building situation and he is determined to win his place back."
