Table tennis juniors win first GB gold

Team GB's Junior table tennis took the first gold at the 13th European Maccabi Games in Vienna.

The squad - comprising Zak Zilesnick, Jack Josephs, Ben Raine and Zac Mandel - swept the board, winning their semi-finals and final by 3-0 margins.

Zilesnick got the ball rolling in the semi-final against Austria on Wednesday, beating his opponent, Klein 11-5, 12-10, 11-6.

Josephs won his match in straight sets before Mandel and Raine won a five-set thriller in the doubles.

GB clinched first place with an emphatic victory over Germany.

Dov Katz, Overall team manager and co-chair of Maccabi international table tennis, said: "I'm extremely proud. For three of the four boys, it's their first Maccabi experience. Overall, they completely dominated both matches which is a result of many years of dedication."

Game 2 - Josephs bt Temer 11-3, 11-4, 11-2

Game 3 - Doubles: Mandel and Raine bt Klein and Temer 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7

Final vs Germany

Game 1 - Zilesnick bt Jacokkowitz 12-10, 11-6, 10-5

Game 2 - Josephs bt Maletkii 11-6, 6-11, 11-7, 12-10

Game 3 - Doubles: Zilesnick and Mandel bt Jacokkowitz and Grinsbury 11-7, 12-10, 11-7
