GOAL OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- NATHAN SOLLOSI (Redbridge JC A) - GOAL 1 - an absolute thing of beauty with a finish that was still moving as it struck the back of the net from 25 yards

- JACOB RICHLER KLEIMAN (Oakwood B) - produced an inch-perfect finish to chip the Brixton keeper from 25 yards

- GAB SAUL (Hendon B) - tried his luck from 30 yards and watched the ball fly over the keeper's head to level it up with five minutes to go

- AVI MARKIEWICZ - GOAL 1 - a sweet free-kick that was hit powerfully from about 25 yards out and flew like an arrow into the bottom corner

- AVI GARSON (Faithfold B) - swiftly drifted past a bunch of defenders and then past the keeper before firing home the eventual winner

- JOHNNY HAIK (ML Lions A) - a truly jaw-dropping moment, a long ball was headed away by the SPEC defence for it to only fall to Haik 25 yards out who hit the ball on the half volley so sweetly it flew into the top corner leaving the goalkeeper no chance, this must be up there with GOTW. It was a an unbelievable piece of technique

- ALEX SHERR (NL Raiders C) - a lovely curling effort to start the comeback against Catford

- LIAM STEIN (NL Raiders C) - picking the ball up just beyond the halfway line and planting a delightful ball into the top right-hand corner

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

SAVE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- DAVID GORDON (FC Team B) - SAVE 1 - flew in the air to his right and with a strong hand beat the ball away from goal - De Gea-esque

- DAVID GORDON (FC Team B) - SAVE 2 - unbelievable one-on-one save off his line so quick to tighten the angle, and saved a fierce strike with his legs

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: : THE CONTENDERS

- MICHAEL MYERS (FC Team B) - "Like Lazarus being resurrected from the dead ... FC Team B's season has begun"

- AVI MARKIEWICZ (RCUK FC) - "If you see any one in Shul over Simchas Torah who cramps up during the dancing, ask him if he plays for RC!"

- SAM ROSE (NL Raiders C) - "We believed in ourselves and our ability to win the game, scoring some fantastic goals along the way, and we were vindicated against a team that fancy themselves to win our league this season"

- NICK GROSSE (Los Blancos) - "As the manager, I would like to take the blame but too often my players are not following instructions which has been fatal"

- DAN KRISTALL (Oakwood A) - "Our squad was extremely stretched with up to 10 A teams players missing. In fact, there are more people in the treatment room than on the pitch and it is hurting us"

YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

LONDON FA SUNDAY CHALLENGE CUP
HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 2 OMONIA 5
Hendon United tumbled out of the LFA Sunday Challenge Cup after going down 5-2 against Omonia. Zac Lewis scored both the Hendon goals.

Reflecting on his team's first defeat of the season, Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "We were incredibly depleted today with players away plus three more late pull outs meant that we played the first half against a top team with only 10 men.

"We were only 2-1 down at half time and fancied our chances but unfortunately gave away a couple of cheap goals and left ourselves with too much to do.

"We always leave this competition with regrets - with a full team we could have and should have got through and it would have been nice to have had a run, but alas it was not to be and we're back to concentrate on the three domestic trophies."

PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND ONE

FINCHLEY CITY FC 1 HERTSWOOD VALE 2
An extra-time strike from co-manager Jack Shulman saw MGBSFL new boys Hertswood Vale cause the upset of the round as they defeated first division Finchley City -

Earlier, Harry Graham had hauled Vale level from the penalty spot, cancelling out Finchley's first-half opener, before Shulman grabbed the headlines with a 99th-minute header earning the visitors their first success of the season.

Gav Krieger netted for Finchley. Boss Joel Holder told JC Sport: "Unfortunately we were not good enough. At this level, you can't turn up and expect the opposition to roll over. Hertswood wanted it more then us on Sunday and deserved the victory. We wish them luck in the competition."

FAITHFOLD B 2 BOCA JEWNIORS 1
Faithfold B completed back-to-back wins thanks to goals from Avi Garson and Josh Barnett.

Faithfold midfielder David Benaim told JC Sport: "It was a far from convincing display but what matters is that we won and we are in the next round. We face Boca in the league next week, they'll be quite confident but it'll be a different ball game. We are in the Hive and we'll have Fogelini, JJ and Bordon available again".

Jamie Leboff was the goal man for Boca. Manager Anton Nyman told JC Sport: "We started far too slowly and let in two in the first 10 minutes. Despite fighting back very well, it was too little too late and we left ourselves too much of an uphill task."

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B 3 RCUK FC 4 (AFTER EXTRA-TIME
A stunning free-kick from player-manager and hat-trick hero AVI MARKIEWICZ saw RCUK FC cause their second cup upset of the season as they beat first division Hendon B in a seven-goal thriller.

A ding-dong derby saw Hendon lead twice, through Adam Ellis and Gideon Barth before a wonder strike from Gab Saul sent it into extra-time.

A jubilant Markiewicz told JC Sport: "For 11 players to play a whole game plus extra-time against a team in the division above on such a large pitch and win is simply a phenomenal achievement. Hendon should be very proud of Yehuda Fink in goal who produced four or five moments of disbelief saving at point blank range and really keeping Hendon in a game they just shouldn't have been in."

Hendon joint-manager Jono Nesbitt told JC Sport: "It was agonising to lose the game with only five minutes left to go, but it's hard to criticise the team after a quality and high-energy performance like that."

SCRABBLE 0 LONDON LIONS UNDER-21 1
A solitary strike from Josh Burns was enough to earn Lions U21's a famous win over Scrabble FC.

It was end to end for 90 minutes and both teams squandered chances but with extra-time looming and late in the game Lions took advantage of a loose ball in the area to bury the chance past Ben Law in the Scrabble goal to win the game.

Scrabble boss Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "Both sides battled hard and cancelled each other out in the midfield area but it was always going to be decided by an odd goal and they took their chance well."

CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 5 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 5 (AET - NLR won 5-3 on penalties)
Raiders C held their nerve to edge out second division rivals Catford & Bromley on penalties.

The evergreen Ashley Davidson (2), plus Alex Elf, Liam Stein and Alex Sherr netted for NLR.

The teams shared 10 goals over 120 minutes of open play, with Richard Winton (2), Jeff Gotch, Jamie Sinai and Jason Shoffman on target for the Cats.

Moving into penalties, Stein, Rob Samuelson, Elf, Scott Waissel and Josh Daniels held their nerve to send NLR through.

NLR joint-manager Sam Rose told JC Sport: "We proved we could go toe to toe with them and come out on top and we can now look forward to the draw for the next round."

Cats player-manager Jeff Gotch told JC Sport: "3-0 up after 60 minutes and in complete control – I made three or four changes and we fell apart."

MILL HILL DONS 1 ATHLETIC BILBAUM 6
Mill Hills Dons took the lead against first division Bilbaum in front of the JC cameras, but the Baums hit back to book their place in the next round after running in six goals.

An upset looked on the cards early on after Harry Most had put the Dons ahead, but Bilbaum destroyed them in the second half, with some clinical finishing.

Dons boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "We made a good start and a produced a strong first-half display, when we were arguably on top, but we didn't wake up in the second half and gave away some sloppy goals. Fair play to Athletic Bilbaum. who played well."

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES

FC TEAM A 3 OAKWOOD A 3
Oakwood's title challenge was dealt a blow as they were forced to settle for a point following a six-goal thriller against FC Team.

Brad Cohen, James Korn and player-manager Mitch Young netted for Team.

Oakwood's goals came through Jonny Quinn, David Woolman and Rafi Stone in a game they finished with 10 men after Max Clynes was sent-off for a second yellow card.

A delighted Young told JC Sport: " The boys gave it everything and left the pitch with a smile on their faces, and that is what it is all about."

Oaks joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "2-0 up and cruising, we only had ourselves to blame for some really basic and costly mistakes. We must learn and learn fast. It is about managing the situation of the game properly and not being naive."

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 4 BRADY MACCABI 2
Redbridge A moved joint-top after strikes from Nathan Sollosi (2), Sam Sollosi and a first RJC goal for Zack Neiman eased them past Brady.

RJC boss Jon Jacobs told JC Sport: "All I can say is it this sort of game when it has been far too easy that has tripped up previous Redbridge teams in the past, so I will take the three points from the game and move on to our next training session when we will iron out some of the second-half glitches."

Brady joint-manager Josh Dagul told JC Sport: "The game was lost in the first half where, for the first time this season, we were very disappointing."

SPEC FC 2 MACCABI LONDON LIONS A 4
Lions A returned to winning ways as they inflicted more misery for winless SPEC FC, courtesy of goals from Alex Rose, Sam Castle, Johnny Haik and Dom Cheniart.

A Lions spokesman commented: "Fair play to SPEC who gave us a great game but our class luckily shone trough at the end. We have a lot to improve in our game but we have to take it week by week now."

Ashley Burns and Daniel Pike struck for SPEC. Player-manager Ricky Lawrence commented: "We come away a bit gutted today. Having been ahead with 20 minutes to go, to lose 4-2 was tough to take. Saying that, it was comfortably our best performance of the season and we take heart from that.”

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES

MACCABI LONDON LIONS B 4 LOS BLANCOS 1
Two goals from Josh Bloom helped the Lions extend their lead at the summit as they made easy work of Blancos.

Michael Kenley and deadly Dom Feldman added the gloss, with Avi Kestenbaum grabbing a consolation for the visitors.

Lions boss Sam Marchant told JC Sport: "Performance-wise we were not at our best today and I think the scoreline does not paint a very fair picture of how the game was. Blancos managed to create quite a few chances, especially in the first half but were unable to capitalise due to the heroics of centre-halves Nathan Schindler and Nick Landesberg."

Blancos boss Nick Grosse told JC Sport: "My early season confidence is starting to dampen a little. I still strongly believe that we have the quality to beat anyone in the league, but our results are starting to become a little worrying."

OAKWOOD B 4 BRIXTON OLD BOYS 0
Oakwood B closed the gap at the top as strikes from Sam Modlin, Daniel Seligman, Dan Ash and Jacob Richler Kleiman secured the points and their first league win against lowly Brixton.

Oaks boss Jason Stein told JC Sport: "It was very comfortable today for us really. I'm really pleased with the attitude and application even if we did waste a lot of chances."
