JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- DANIEL SELIGMAN (Oakwood B) - an absolute worldie to make he game 2-0. Picked the ball up on the halfway line and beat a few men before drilling the ball home

- CONNOR PERL (FC Team A) - a driven strike from a full 35 yards which pinged in

- ADAM DIAMOND (Mill Hill Dons) - a delightful ball into the penalty area by Zach Cohen was flicked on by Richard Hayim to find Diamond who finessed it into the top right corner, the keeper stood no chance. Very good goal

- RICHARD HAYIM (Mill Hill Dons) - a great run by Hayim saw him beat several Boca players, with some great flair and pace they couldn't get near him, the keeper wasn't going to be able to prevent him from scoring, after the run ended with a very tidy finish

- AVI KORMAN (Hendon A) - picked the ball up just inside opposition half, beat one man before curling a shot into roof of net from 25 yards. Yet another classy goal

- JONTI AREMBAND (RC UK FC) - skinned two players down the flank, cut inside and buried a crisp finish into the far corner

- BEN WINTERS (ML Lions B) - a ball played over the top to Dean Rosenthal who ran down the right wing, played a brilliant low drilled cross in the box, Josh Bloom flicked the ball to the back post for the oncoming Winters to slot the ball home. A great team goal.

-----------------------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- BEN LAW (Scrabble FC) - made a world-class double save at point-blank range when the ball was driven at him from five yards away the second save with one arm while he was falling backwards. A breathtaking save which left the Raiders strikers applauding him before taking the corner that followed

- ADAM ZAIDMAN (Camden Park) - made a brilliant point-blank save with his feet. Truly outstanding reflex save. "One of the best" Max Saunders has seen in a long while

-----------------------------------

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- BRANDON HAMME (Mill Hill Dons) - "We dedicate the win to the fans - we know how much the Mill Hill Derby means to them and their support in this game and the whole season has been incredible"

- DAVID GARBACZ (Hendon A) - QUOTE 1 - "Some of the football we played in the first half today was reminiscent of Barcelona at their best and no team in the league would have been able to live with our pace and movement"

- DAVID GARBACZ (Hendon A) - QUOTE 2 - "We certainly weren't expecting the boost we got from the result in the Redbridge game as we arrived home for lunch - I nearly choked on my salmon bagel and I will be sending the Camden management a bottle of Israels finest as a thank you"

- RAY ABRAHAMS (Scrabble FC) - "This league is going to go right to the wire in terms of honours and everyone is taking points off everyone else at the top, so it will be interesting. We've had a tough start in terms of early fixtures against all the top clubs and it hasn't been an easy run of games for us, but we are still in there challenging and will be there or thereabouts at the end of the campaign"

- AVI MARKIEWICZ (RC UK FC) - "This week I was unfortunately away but clearly I wasn't needed. I gave my instructions to Yisroel Lewis who stepped in in my stead and both my own team and word from the opposition is that we were excellent"

- NICK STERN (L'Equipe) - "This was a great win, there's no other way to put it. Despite going one down we dominated in all aspects of the game and even Catford's new, big mid-season signing couldn’t stop the juggernaut of L'Equipe even being substituted after 50 minutes without a shot on target"

- MAX SAUNDERS (Camden Park) - QUOTE 1 - "We have had to endure the most ridiculous start to the season so far. Our 7 games so far in the league have been against Hendon twice, Redbridge twice, Lions twice and Oakwood once. I'm sure if you asked all those teams, we have been very unlucky to have picked up 0 points prior to Sunday, the performances we have put in have deserved a lot more. If we had been a bit more clinical in some of those games, no doubt our points tally would have been a lot more handsome, we were due a result like this. So, although it may have been a shock to many, to us it was ‘about time"

- MAX SAUNDERS (Camden Park) - QUOTE 2 - "I'd sincerely like to thank Jon Jacobs for giving us credit and kindly stating based on that performance we would move up the league. However, claiming that we won because of a “perfectly executed game-plan…of niggly fouls and constant wind up's” is not a fair representation of the game at all. Before the game I told my players the pressure is off and to go out and enjoy the game. It worked wonders. We completely out-played Redbridge in the first half. We played some brilliant football, our forward players were linking up beautifully and our midfield dominated Redbridge’s. Their players were getting wound-up, sure, but not because of our 'wind-ups' but purely out of frustration. They turned up very complacent, and we punished them for it"

RAIDERS "BULLIED" OUT OF CUP
NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 3 FC BICKLEY 1st 4
NLR's pursuit of glory in the LFA Sunday Challenge Cup ended at the second hurdle as they lost a seven-goal thriller against FC Bickley.

Liron Mannie, Nyv Bogaire and Ben Ellis scored for Raiders.

Raiders manager Dan Shafron told JC Sport: "I am very disappointed and baffled with this result. The boys are disappointed as we all fancied a cup run in this competition and should have been in the next round, but it’s a result and second half performance to be angry about but not dwell on. We’ve still got plenty to play for and I’ll be expecting a big response next week."

A Bilbaum spokesman told JC Sport: "Two drop outs on the morning of the game really hampered us. We matched them for the first 30 minutes but after Julius Judah went off with a head injury, leaving us on 10, it was always going to be an uphill battle."

A deadly double from Josh Bloom ensured Lions B finished the weekend joint-top after mauling Hendon B 5-0.

Ben Winters, Adam Abadi and Benji Weinberger also registered in MLL's sixth win in nine matches.

MLL's Sammy Kingston told JC Sport: "Coming off the back of three below-par results, we had to go back to basics to get the three points against Hendon. We pressed from the front and in pairs and our attacking play at times was an absolute joy to watch and we were clinical in front of goal. All-round a great performance and hopefully a boost going into a tough run of games."

SASSON LATE SHOW HALTS SCRABBLE
SCRABBLE FC 2 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B 2
A dramatic late equaliser from Brandon Sassoon saw table-toppers Raiders B drop points for only the second time this season as they drew 2-2 against Scrabble, just as predicted!

Sassoon turned the ball home from close-range following excellent work from Zac McLeod to break NLR hearts.

In a match where Scrabble's Ben Law was by far the busier keeper, the visitors looked to have won it from the penalty spot until Sassoon denied them at the death. Wonder kid Zak Summerfield was Scrabble's other scorer in a game where Will Ufland and Mark Leader (pen) registered for NLR.

Scrabble boss Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "There is no question that Raiders were the better side today but sometimes you have to ride your luck and keep going and I'm proud of the way the lads kept plugging away at the Raiders goal right to the end of the game."

NLR joint-manager Jonathan Adelman told JC Sport: "All three games against Scrabble have been very competitive and whilst it's a little disappointing not to get the three points our performance merited, we can be satisfied with taking four points from the two league games against them."

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 1 TEMPLE FORTUNE 4
JORDAN SHARIFIAN continued his brilliant start to the season as Temple Fortune boosted their promotion hopes with an impressive 4-1 win at Raiders.

Adam Lenz was also on target as Simon Linden's men delivered a huge statement of intent.

Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "I'm pleased with the win. The whole game plan of playing with two high wingers changed when both went off after 25 minutes injured after we had comfortably taken a two-goal lead. We adapted well, changed it around a bit and became very disciplined second half. Raiders had a lot of the ball but limited chances as we defended well. All in all, a good win and those around us dropped points."
