articlemain

A strike from Matt Stock earned London Lions Reserves a 1-0 victory in a pre-season friendly against Barton Rovers.

More high quality, pre-season opposition for the Reserves who played host to Southern League Barton Rovers. And though the visitors had the majority of possession, other than a couple of headers late on, Rovers were restricted to shots from distance or through balls comfortably collected by Danny Berliner and, later, Davidson.

Lions' defensive shape was solid, despite the regular substitutions and all 15 outfield players having at least an hour's game time. The only goal of the game came just before half time from Lions' best move - Beerman's incisive pass was dummied by Goodman, allowing Stock to steal in and finish coolly form 12 yards.

Liron Mannie, aged 18, impressed on his Lions "guest" debut and there were solid and disciplined performances right across the squad.

Beerman's assured all round game earning him the man-of-the-match plaudits.
