Sri Lanka Jerusalem beat Lions Modi'in in a thriller

articlemain

Sri Lanka Jerusalem climbed into second place in the Israel Night Cricket League after beating third-placed Lions Modi’in.

After a number of games postponed due to the wet weather, a thrilling match, played in very cold conditions took place between Cup league leaders Lions Modi'in and Sri Lanka Jerusalem.

Batting first, Lions Modi'in never really adjusted to the pace and accuracy of the Sri Lankan Jerusalem bowlers and could only manage a total of 44 - their lowest in this competition so far.

The pace of the Sri Lankan bowlers combined with superb fielding meant that the league leaders, Lions Modi'in would need to put in an heroic bowling and fielding performance in order to win the match.

While the Lions Modi'in bowlers performed well, the target of 44 was easily reached by the Sri Lankan Jerusalem players and they posted 54 to move up to 2nd on the league table as Lions Modi'in slipped to 3rd with Telalivit regaining top spot.

In the Plate league, runaway league leaders Pearl Wanderers Cricket Club showed everyone why they are unbeaten in the league by hammering the luckless Modi'in EasyIsrael team by 157 runs. PWCC scored 163 to MEI's 6.

This week sees the Gold Insurance Bet Shemesh Lightning team come up againt the KAT ISRAEMPLOY Warriors in what should be a very tight match.

InHasharon.co.il will be looking for their first win in Cup league, but will find it hard against the ever improving Sri Lanka Jerusalem squad.
